February Membership Meeting

Member Brad Kippen presented a program titled "Digitizing and Preserving the Robert E. Chaffin Negatives Collection for the B&MRRHS". Brad, helped by Kris Spinney, Rick Kfoury, and others, is in the process of digitizing, preserving and archiving over 5,000 negatives taken by Mr. Chaffin during his employment with the Boston & Maine. The negatives span a period of history from the 1930s to the early 1960s. Brad provided great insight and detail into this extensive project, including the steps of preparing the negatives for scanning, the scanning process itself, cleaning the negatives, and safely storing the negatives for future organization and cataloging. Around 30 members were in attendance.
