May Membership Meeting

Members, friends of the Society, and the general public gathered at the Plymouth Senior Center on Saturday, May 7th for our May meeting. The Plymouth Senior Center is housed within the former Boston & Maine Railroad passenger station in town, in the heart of what was once a busy railroad location. We are lucky to be able to hold meetings here, usually twice a year.

Our presenter was Bruce Davision, a longtime member and friend of the B&MRRHS. Bruce had a long railroading career, working for the Claremont & Concord Railway, the Wolfeboro Railroad, the New England Southern Railroad, and the St. Lawrence & Atlantic Railway. During Bruce’s time with the Wolfeboro Railroad, he worked primarily on its “Central Division” between Concord, NH and Lincoln, NH. The Wolfeboro Railroad was the first operator of this line after it was purchased by the state of New Hampshire from the Boston & Maine Railroad in 1975, and was contracted by the state of New Hampshire to operate freight and occasional tourist passenger trains. Bruce showed many photographs taken by himself and others during the brief time that the Wolfeboro operated on this line (1976-1977). Also an accomplished baker, Bruce provided cookies and other refreshments along with informational handouts for the audience. We would like to thank Bruce, and the over 75 attendees who made this a great meeting!
